Individual Therapy

There are times when individual therapy is the most appropriate course of treatment – whether or not you are in a relationship. Individual therapy can assist in increasing self awareness, learning new techniques to cope with the challenges life presents, sorting out complex emotions, and generating personal growth and empowerment.  Depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, and poor body image can be effectively addressed in one-on-one sessions. Many sexual challenges, and some relationship issues, can also be effectively addressed in individual therapy if your partner is unwilling to attend couple or sex therapy.

Couple Therapy

Couple therapy can help partners reclaim connection and experience greater intimacy. Significant focus is placed on improving communication skills and creating greater empathy to help resolve conflict and heal emotional wounds such as infidelity or breaches in trust. Couple therapy can also help address unmet emotional needs, assist in reconciling issues that can arise due to different parenting styles, and in developing tools to effectively meet the stress that can come with life stage changes - like becoming new parents or empty nesters, career changes, or moving to a new place.  Lastly, when continuing in a relationship would not be the best outcome, couple therapy can help lead to a thoughtful and respectful separation and/or divorce.

Sex Therapy

Sex therapy helps individuals and couples overcome obstacles to sexual fulfillment including: the consequences of sexual abuse or trauma, desire discrepancies, inability to orgasm, erectile dysfunction or pain experienced during sexual activity. Sex therapy can also help individuals who are troubled by compulsions, repulsions, fetishes or porn addiction. Sex therapy does not involve physical contact during the sessions. While it is very normal for most individuals to feel anxious or uncomfortable discussing sexual issues, most are surprised by how quickly a sex therapist can help them feel more comfortable discussing a topic that is a normal, healthy part of being human.
